Frequently Ask & Questions

IFFCO stands for Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited. It is a multi-unit cooperative society that plays a crucial role in empowering Indian farmers by providing high-quality fertilisers and agricultural inputs.

IFFCO was established on November 3, 1967, making it over 54 years old.

IFFCO's mission is to enhance the prosperity of Indian farmers through the provision of high-quality fertilisers and agricultural inputs, aiming for sustainable agriculture and farmer-centric initiatives.

IFFCO has five state-of-the-art production units. Three plants produce Urea, one plant produces NPK/DAP fertilisers, and one plant produces both NPK/DAP and Phosphoric Acid fertilisers.

The first IFFCO fertiliser plants were established in Kandla and Kalol.

IFFCO's product portfolio includes primary nutrients, secondary nutrients, water-soluble fertilisers, organic and bio fertilisers, micronutrients, nano fertilisers, and solutions for urban gardening.

IFFCO's initiatives include Farmer Development Programs, the Village Adoption Program, Cyber Dhabas, Kisan Sanchar, and the Save the Soil Campaign.

The Village Adoption Program began as a two-plot demonstration to educate local farmers on balanced fertiliser use, quality seeds, and scientific farm management. It has now transformed over 2300 villages into prosperous communities.

The Save the Soil Campaign focuses on soil rejuvenation and crop productivity enhancement through sustainable and environment-friendly practices, resulting in increased crop yields and improved soil health.

Cyber Dhabas and Kisan Sanchar are initiatives to promote balanced fertiliser use, improve soil health, and educate farmers on modern agro-technologies, thereby enhancing crop productivity and sustainable agriculture.

IFFCO has established Professors’ Chairs across various reputed Agricultural Universities and Cooperative Institutions to pass on knowledge and experience to the next generation.

IFFCO follows the cooperative model defined by the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), where individuals voluntarily unite to meet their common economic, social, and cultural needs through a jointly owned and democratically controlled enterprise.

The cooperative model has significantly contributed to India's development by promoting shared profits, shared control, and societal progress. It played a pivotal role in India's Five-Year Plans and has a strong presence in agriculture, dairy, consumer supplies, and urban banking.

Post-independence, cooperatives became integral to India's economic growth and development, particularly through their inclusion in the country's Five-Year Plans. They supported various sectors, including agriculture and dairy.

IFFCO aims to continue innovating and evolving to support sustainable agricultural growth and farmer prosperity. It remains committed to its founding principles of cooperation and mutual benefit, fostering a brighter future for India's farmers and the nation.
